I'm in danger of stamping my w950i flat very soon. I got a friend to load nav 6 onto the phone, which is fine. I'll be damned if I can get a movie to play on the thing though. I contacted the SE consumer website which was about as much good as a front loading fishtank.
I need some detailed adviced from anyone that has successfully used the phone to play videos.
I'm on the Orange network, my computer runs on Windows Vista ( unbelievably SE don't have the handset manager ready for Vista yet ). I've tried converting DVD's to Mpeg4 and 3gp with no luck. All that happens is when you try and play the film the screen locks up for a minute or so.
I'm sure that this has been discussed before and I apologise in advance if I'm boring anyone! HELP!!!!!!!

Thanks for your help with this, very much appreciated.
I found M3 and tried to convert a DVD with it, but think I'm having a brain fart. All the bits of the film I want are .vob files. Looked on the help thing on M3 and installed the codec pack linked in it, but it still won't convert the files. Any ideas?
I successfully converted a 3gp file I'd previously made and loaded it onto the handset with no problem, albeit in 3 seperate files ( the first 2 about 100meg each, the third around 25 ). Also the quality is a bit shite, very grainy. I've looked through the forum and other people have said that M3 should convert to a clean crisp image. Where am I going wrong?
Can you see now why I chose the name Symbianspazz?!

@symbianspazz, I'm sorry, but I'm a little busy with exams at the moment. For more information on M3, you might want to check out

Deluded - no problem, fully understand, thank you for your help, good luck with the exams.
Tarui - I'm not entirely sure I'm using M3 properly. How do you set the thing up to convert, say, a DVD? When I open the files up i can see loads of .VOB files. This completely baffled me so I converted a film to 3gp using another bit of software ( Slysoft ) and was able to convert this with M3, but as I mentioned the quality was pretty poor. Is there such a thing as an M3 user guide? As I'm sure you've guessed I'm new to all this.

Hey @symbianspazz! Thanks for the well-wishes. I remember having a little difficulty figuring out how to convert my DVD once. I think you have to load the DVD into your DVD-rom, then select "Add DVD Title" in M3. That should do the job. Let me know if that works for you yeah? M3 is good in that way cos you don't actually need another program to rip your DVDs before you convert with M3. It can do both just fine.

instead using mp4 or rm formats.......use divx or xvid nd use it thru smartmovie.....it will take upto 35% lesser space nd the quality will be much better too......i recently converted a 600 mb movie to xvid format to 108 mb nd the sharpness is better than mp4 ....it loads quicker than mp4....

Deluded - The saga continues.......... Right, I copied a DVD ( took about 2 hours??? is that about right? ) and set M3 to save it as 1 file ( set it to store movies in chunks of 2 1/2 hrs ), which resulted in 1 file of 578mb. Transferred this to the phone and it won't play, just says that " there is a problem opening this file ". There's about 3 1/2 gb of memory left on the phone so it should work. Can I only store films in 100mb files?
What are you studying?
