> W880i and SE File Manager problem - folder is empty
Bookmark topic
I have tried twice now.
I got my W880i yesterday and tried it in immediately since I already had the file manager for my W810i. It d/led some drivers somewhere. I didn't try to manage any files. Then I installed the stuff from the CD. A new version of Files Manager came then (new icon) and I connected my W880i to the computer but when clicking on the phone icon "My W880i" or whatever, the folder is empty. There should be things like DCIM, and Songs and I don't know if Phone and Card categories. It's completely empty and refreshing doesn't help. And before You ask, I did the "Connect new phone thing, where it asked for what I should name my phone etc."
I reinstalled it. Twice. Nothing helped.
When putting in File Transfer mode, only PHONE CARD comes up, like there isn't a thing like PHONE, with W810i, I had PHONE and PHONE CARD drives. Through the File Transfer, I can see the files and copy them and do what I like.
MyPhoneExplorer (latest) doesn't work as well, says "COM3 couldn't be opened!" or something like that (translated from Estonian)
I hope someone knows a solution for this problem, thanks!
But there's nothing wrong with the memory stick, I believe. It opens when in "File Transfer" mode, but PHONE doesn't (Should it?). Also, when in Phone Mode connected, it says it's connected, just the folders are empty.

I believe when in phone mode, you can't see the contents of the memory card via cable.

But when I connect my PC with my W810i, it opens in Phone Mode the Phone and Memory Stick folders and in those are the folder like "other" and "Music" and so on.

hmm, not sure but I know that with a K610 I've been playing with it comes up as either phone mode (no removeable drive), or file transfer mode, in which case it's a removeable drive but with the memory card only.
In phone mode, I can use myphoneexplorer to connect to both internal and memory card.

Hmm, can anyone confirm that it's supposed to be like that?
I got MyPhoneExplorer working too now!

Yes its suppose to be like that. W880 has good software but many bugs.

I had the same issue with my W880i. I found that in my Network Connection settings there was a local area network connection with a device name of "Sony Ericsson Device 116 USB Ethernet Emulation (NDIS 5)" which was disabled. Once I re-enabled it (it's only visible when the phone was connected to the PC) I could see all the files on the phone again.
Maybe it helps
