> P990i or P1i? (was P990i or P700i?)
Bookmark topic
Now the P700i, new member of P-series is going to be released many SE fans are excited. If you have are going to buy a new phone and the finalist are P990i and P700i, which phone will win your heart?
Do the people who bought P990i recently regret for not waiting a little bit longer for P700i?
I bought P990i recently knowing that it was not stable, had too many bugs to count and very very serious problem with the memory management. However, I still prefer P990i to P700i. My only wish list for P990i is either more memory (which is out of question) or better memory management. I wonder why SE did not consider memory issue before releasing P990i. How can OS of a multitasking phone provide less than 15% of the memory for all of the running applications? There is no need of a genius to calculate this simple arithmetic.

Hi,
The P700i has not even been officially announced yet (at least not that I am aware of). It could be MONTHS before it is released and starts hitting the stores, as it usually happens.
So, I guess it all reduces to needing instead of wanting. If you need the features, since they both seem to be very similar feature wise, the the P990i is the way to go. If you do not need the features RIGHT NOW, then waiting is the answer.
Unless, of course, a full qwerty keyboard or a flip is a must, in which case, the P700i wouldn't be the one.

You practically answered your own question... wait for P700 since P990 doesn't meet your requirements.

On specs, p700 is almost better in everything, except screen size. But considering the price and the OS update that the p990 will have, its really a good option for people not wanting to pay the early high price of p700

you said p990 would regret it they didn't wait longer for p700
just for the fact; i got mine p990 at november
with a little luck p700 comes out in may/june?
that more than a half a year... i don't call it a little longer
however p700 looks very promosing to me, but p990 SW is quite stable and reliable now... wonder how p700's stability is

The P700i is really the phone that both the P990 and M600 should have been when they were released. The M600 always had a superior form factor (the old P series flip arrangement should have been retired with the P910, it's just not relevant to UIQ3) but the P990's extra features (camera, wifi) always ensured it was still considered the flagship. Now that you've got all that combined with the M series keypad, this is really all the phone anyone could ask for. I'll definitely be upgrading to it from my current M600, and yes - I do feel a little sorry for anyone who's been caught out recently by the P990. I think the M600 and now P700 are the true successors to the old P series crown worn by the P800, 900, and 910, and I've a feeling the P990 is going to age very badly, very quickly as the one that just never quite cut the mustard.

totally agree. though, since r5 the p990 at least now works like it should have on release. And if Ares is correct about the new OS upgrade then all might not be lost for us p990 owners!
