hi guys. i am thinking of buying an ipod for my music needs but decided not to, because it is not practical in my point of view (another gadget to carry around and it costs as much as a new phone). so now, im shopping for a new phone - a walkman phone specifically. oh and btw, i am coming from a k750i. (sell k750i and get )
im torn between these choices: w810i, w610i and w850i, and i need your help to decide.
these are my criteria: i want a slim and light phone (or at least not bulky), i want walkman 2.0 interface, and finally, i prefer MS pro duo because of its much cheaper $-to-MB ratio. its also a bonus if it has an AF camera, nice screen, and less orange-colored-panels.
w810i: slim and light? yes. walkman 2.0? no. MS pro duo? yes.
w610i: slim and light? yes. walkman 2.0? yes. MS pro duo? no.
w850i: slim and light? no. walkman 2.0? yes. MS pro duo? yes.

I would go with the W610i. It does not use DUO's but the cost of the M2 micros is coming down. It might be worth considering the W880i to as it is really slim and comes with a 1GB card so you shouldnt need to buy another card for a while.

coming from a K750 i'd say you natural choice would be the W810i. good value for money, and you'll be able to use a ms duo card with it.
no walkman 2 but still its a great phone to use on a daily basis. plus it has a built in FM radio which i believe the W880 does not...

Like jc also mentioned, the memory card prices are coming down, so it's still worth considering it. Think about this, if you get a high-capacity MSPD now, you will almost certainly not be able to use it in the future SE phones, since they're all using the M2 card now. If you get the M2 card, it'll probably be compatible with your next phone. That's provided, of course, that you intend to stick with SE.

The w950i is the best walkman phone IMHO. If you live in the UK and are not thinking of chaging contract you get another bonus, as Vodafone is doing them PAYG as special offer for £180 (add £20 to unlock - unless you are already on voda).
1. +ve It is slim and light - 112g (go into a shop and hold one).
-ve it is wider then the others, but the slimness means it still fits well in shirt or jacket pocket
2. +ve It has 4gb of inbuilt memory - forget about cards
-ve it has no mem card socket
3. +ve biggest and best screen
4. +ve touch sensitive screen - really easy to use
-ve sony have not implemented keyboard shortcuts for everything, so need touch screen
5. +ve UIQ3 OS - lots of software (I use it for blackberry email as well)
6. +ve thumb wheel - good for email and quick selection
7. +ve 3G
-ve great for email and browsing. turn off for 20% more battery life
One other comment. First think you should do when buying this phone is update to latest firmware (using Sony update service).

right, the w850i is the best among those mentioned walkman except for the camera (no AF)
& it isnt that heavy!! compare to other phones from other brands like nokia n91 > 140 i think ..
go & buy the w850i atleast if u have a MSPD u wont have to throw it

The W850i is a large phone. The W880i is the same spec as the W850i except for the lack of radio and the M2 micro for a bout a third of the thickness.

Yup, the W850i is hardly what I would call slim and light, though personally I think it feels good to hold. The W880i is probably SE's slimmest Walkman phone right now, so it definitely fits the requirements.

Get W610.
2.0, has AF, nice screen. Although doesnt have MS PRO Duo.

The w610i will only take up to 1Gb M2 sticks which imo is too little if you're gonna have pics and music in there.
