> T68i faceplate question

Hey everyone, I'm wondering if the t68i and m faceplates can be split into 2 pieces - the top and bottom.. I've heard it can be just lifted out and also heard that you have to freeze it? And then cut it with an exacto knife?
Which one is true?!
