O2 has put more value into its consumer tariffs. From Thursday, it will offer 500 texts as standard on all of its £35 plus 18-month tariffs. Until now, customers have only been able to get 100 texts on the plans, with an extra 400 added as in promotionally.

The operator is also adding the choice of free texts to its Long Weekends package. Until now, customers have only been able to receive free calls on the scheme, which runs from Saturday's to Monday's.

This marks the second change in a month to the operator's tariff structure. Three weeks ago it announced it was putting more minutes into its business contracts.

Separately, O2 has announced the launch of its Energy Saver options scheme, aimed at encouraging customers to reduce environmental impact from their mobile use. Customers who decide not to replace their phone at the end of their contract will be offered a choice of either £100 credit, or £95 credit and a £5 donation to the O2 Energy Saver fund. O2 will match every donation, bringing the total donation for each phone not replaced to a total of £10.

What do you mean 'is that it'? £100 is pretty good, especially if you don't want a phone in the first place. If you want more than £100 take a good phone from them and sell it or something.

when you consider the cost of new phones 100 credit isnt very much. Can you imagine trying to get an n95 with that?

Hence why I said if you want more, sell the phone instead.
