It's well documented that the P990's screen is almost impossible to see in strong daylight.

Has anybody used a screen protector that improves this to any significant degree? I've just come across one on Amazon called "Vikuiti ARMR200" by 3M. They claim:

------
"Displays should not reflect; 3M has therefore paid great attention to this problem.
The surface of the Vikuiti display protection foil ARMR200 is matt, thereby reducing sharp reflections, coated to increase contrast and readability"
------

Now 3M are a pretty reputable outfit. Anybody tried this?

I recently tried a Martin Fields protector which didn't make any difference.

martin fields quality you can`t find it anywhere. Is the most scratch resistant screen protector ever. And about screen protectors that allow you to see the screen better in sunlight, i think is just marketing. No visible difference...

I'm not so concerned about scratches - I had my P910 for over a year and never got a scratch......

I'd just like to find a way of improving visibility in daylight.... Or is that too much to ask...???????

@mjt,

I'm afraid it is to much to ask and is the price you have to pay if you want to have a Touch screen and it's added functionality. It is a case of swings and roundabouts what you gain in usability you lose in visibility. This is why my preference is no longer for a touchscreen as i prefer the advantages this brings.

Take the point about the touchscreen trade-off.... however, my P910 wasn't this bad....

I think this could be improved by having an ambient light sensor on the device, increasing the backlight automatically when necessary. Of course, this would increase power consumption at times, but conversely, the backlight would be reduced at other times....

I'll second the Martin fields suggestion. Of all the screen protectors I've had it seems to be the best performing brand. It's not terrible in direct sunlight but it's waaay better than the inferior brands i've tried.
