> P990i Won't start or firmware upgrade
Bookmark topic
Thought I would try here as there seem to be a heck of a lot of people that know there onions about these types of phones!
My son bought a P990i 3 days ago and tried to upload a new theme he had made using the Sony Themes Creator and ever since has been unable to start the phone, it displays a splash screen then show a page that has a green and silver ball with the words Sony Ericson under and it halts at that and won't load any further.
After speaking to support they suggested I reload the firmware, but it detects the phone and everything but at the end it says that the firmware is upto date and the only option is to go back to the start.
So is there a way of resetting the phone so I can reload the firmware or reset the phone to use a default theme? If this is the problem.
Any help would be truly appreciated as he has just bought this for himself using his birthday money and the only suggestion Sony had was to post it back to them, they couldn't even tell me of a local service centre I could take it to.
Thanks in advance.

The problem is that the phone won't start, so can't do that! Unless there is a secret magic button!
Thanks

To get to service menu close the flip and be on the main screen and :
jog dial up * jog dial down jog dial down * jog dial down *
where 'jog dial up or down' means just one click and the * is the bottom left key on the flip.
And format the internal memory
Else the best is to take to sony service center

Or your son may have damaged the memory stick during file transfer.
Have you ever tried to start the phone w/o memory stick ?

Instead of reloading the firmware. Try reloading the firmware and choose the recovery option.
