hi to all Malaysian esatonians!

a quick question for you lot. i'm currently using k800i, with firmware R1JG. my service provider is maxis, and i have downloaded all the settings for GPRS, MMS and 3G.

question here is, i'm unable to connect using the GPRS WAP profile, whereas the 3G GPRS profile works fine. same thing too with my MMS GPRS profile. i can only use the 3G MMS one. the error message says there is something wrong with my settings.

my area does not have 3G coverage BTW. any of you have ever experienced this before? it's not that big a glitch, but i'm just curious.

yes indeed, but they were no help. they just resent me the same settings. i believe the settings differ in that GPRS and 3G uses different servers for the connection, i just can't figure out which part of the setting is faulty.

imo u should visit then a store and ask them to make u the right settings. seems poinless for me to use 2 servers for the same service, never noticed that in the countries i visited... cos the service ( or the reason of the service ) is the same : browsing. so its up to the fone, how fast i can use that service... confused...

seems every malaysian operators habe got only one settings for gprs:

Operator: - DIGI
GPRS APN: - diginet
Username: - {blank}
Password: - {blank}
DNS: - 203.92.128.131, 203.92.128.132

Operator: - Maxis
GPRS APN: - internet.gprs.maxis
Username: - {blank}
Password: - {blank}
DNS: - 202.75.129.101, 10.216.4.21

Operator: - Timecel
GPRS APN: - timenet.com.my
Username: - {blank}
Password: - {blank}
DNS: - 203.121.16.85, 203.121.16.120

Operator: - TM Touch
GPRS APN: - internet
Username: - {blank}
Password: - {blank}
DNS: - 202.188.0.133

@bodum u maybe try to use the dial up wap settings? then it wont work, cos for it u need the fone nr where u have to dial... thats the old wap solution, where u pay for the time aslong u browse and not for the data amount, as on gprs...

i would, if they didn't know less than me. that's the thing about grey imports, blame it on the customer when something goes wrong. oh well, guess i'd just have to live with it until something new comes up. bring on the k850!!

that could be it, as it does say WAP GPRS on the settings. but why have it for such an advanced phone as the k800? puzzled...

well, one profile less or more doesnt count, to be honest, the lack of edge disturbs me more, then that dial up support.

Try asking in the Malaysian Esato thread:

I'm using Celcom, so I can't help you there.

Or go to http://www.lowyat.net and ask over there, I'm sure they can help.
