Not sure if this is the correct place to post, and its mainly a question.

I have the p990i and a k800i,

the p990i has a 2 mpx camera.... not crap but not great
the k800i has a 3.2 mpx camera, which is good for a phone

basicly I am thinking about taking them part and swoping the cameras over...

will this work? or would i need some kinda of OS update/tweek?

edit: because im a new member only 3 posts for 3 days so this is my reply

I am keeping my two phones, k800 to take photos send to p990i to email to my friends etc..

I cant get a new phone until 18months time, free upgrade, im kinda broke after buying/building my new pc

thank's anyways

in practice, it's near to impossible. the hardware is incompatible, not to mention the software, ect. better off sticking to your 2 phone combo for now.

also, the p700 should be coming soon. it has a 3.2 megapixel camera, and is a PDA to boot. you might want to consider that.

yep it's not really feasible. You could do what I've done, add a better lense to your P990, but then you'll end up with a massive cylinder sticking out of your phone

But to actually swap complete camera modules is not possible because the connectors are different and the firmware doesn't support the other camera module.

Hmmm... not too practicle but certainly effective. Takes some great shots!

@shadow - Why make experiment on 2 hi-end fones If made on low-ends, I guess it's OK . . . I know that celfone-technicians at tried doin' this but it's far much better on what they did with the FINAL-product.

If you are really KEEN in doin' this STUNT, prepare yourself at the MOST that you'll be ending up with 2 non-working 'camera' fones in the end . . .

yeah not practical, but it's only a spare. My other K is my day to day phone and it's still got a virgin camera
