Ok guys my o2 k800i has a faulty joystick and I was browsing the o2 website for the repair process and I stumbled across this:

SOS Service

I'm I reading it correctly, If your phone has a fault which is covered by the warrenty they will replace the phone on a like for basis?

Surely there must be some catches to this service?

Ok It might be for a refurb handset but thats not to bad if you ask me.

i think the like for like exchange is for the first 30 days, after that it only applies if they can't repair yours.

hey
you do realise that is the Irish O2 website. However to confirm, if you have an O2 contract within the UK and your handset becomes faulty after 30 days, they will swap it, with a refurb same model, within 30 days they will give you a brand new replacement for the same model.

Some of the U.S. carriers have a program like this, but employ the dodgy practice of replacing your phone with someone else's return. They claim only "factory refurbished" phones are given out, but several folks I know say they just got someone else's problem. One guy I work with thinks he got his original Treo 650 back from Cingular after 4 or 5 return/exchanges.

I'm on T-Mobile in the US and as long as you purchased your phone through the carrier we are allowed to send in a faulty handset for up to a year and receive a refurbished model immediately in the mail. I did this some nine different times one year with my T610. The damage was always my fault. Careless things like dropping it in the bath or what not. And even though it's known that you're responsible for water damage they still replaced it without question. Now that I have a W810 ordered from SE direct I'm far more careful and don't even allow my phone near the bathroom.
