I once owned a P910i which, was stolen. I thought it was a great fone.

I can upgrade to a P990i, K800i, K810i or a number of Windows Mobile devices free of charge. I am considering either the 810i or 990i. What is the state of the P990i at the moment in terms of functionality and bugs. Is it well-received and thought of or is it still the bug-ridden problem child it was when it came out?

I know that the 810/800 is not directly comparable, but it seems to be very well thought of. My needs are:

Organising functions
Camera for blogging
Occasional email
Heavy txt use

The 990's wLan capability would be a boon in my house as I like to use it for my mobile mail.

TIA.

Nige.

@tw - I am hearing not-so-good feedbacks with the P990i mate . . . amongst your choices . . . I'll go with the K800, unless you can wait for the K850's arrival (due soon), 5 MP camera et al (though a bit pricey) . . . if you are very well satisfied with your P910i, then I guess the p990is is for you, but some says, only minimal upgrades were made

Good Luck !

If the author is under-budget . . . I guess that is way too MUCH off the mark - Kerry But given the choice (as an option), I would definitely GO with that one too N95 !

Welcome!
I'm currently on the "dark side" as some call it here using a nokia e61 (no camera, so I won't recommend it to you - though it's great!)...
Vodafone here in Ireland have only recently started selling p990i - so it would seem they incorporated a lot of the improvements of the last few months as I know 2 power-users who bought it and are quite happy with it...
However, from "the darkside" I say, get the e61i which has a camera (there's a thread about it here...very happy customers indeed!)... Windows mobiles? i have a treo 750v - I like it but find the screen too small for a windows/touchscreen, and the keypad is catastrophic (not the fact that the buttons are tiny and close together...no, the arrangement!!! Deserves it's own thread if I could be bothered )... Windows mobile 6 is on the way thought, and operamobile 9 for windows mobiles, I think, will be very very exciting if you use the net a lot...
Anyway, over to someone who actually owns a p990 maybe...

Good feedback guys. Thanks!

Unfortunately, my provider O2 do not supply the N95 as yet and I generally do prefer SE fones.

Ahhh.decisions, decisions

The K810i is not a true smartphone, even though it does handle email, scheduling, and photos. The weak point in the organizer function of the K-series is the calendar, IMHO. It sucks. need something more robust, and the only think that makes it tolerable is the aftermarket app MobyToday. Gives you a "Today Screen" function to show upcoming appointments and to dos. Suddenly my K790i and K550i are usable as fulltime phone/pdas. The K550i has a built in photo blogging function but I've never used it. I'm sure it's included on the new K810i as well. Could be useful if you do that a lot. I guess it's a trade off between organizer and photo blogging.

There are loads of fones about I dont see why you shouldnt opt for a k800/k810. If your use is mainly for photos Id go with the K800/k810i but if its mainly to organise urself the p990i although it can be good at taking photos aswell but i guess you would like all these options so i would go for a p990i. You can also add an mxe70 flash if needed.

i would get a p990, regardless of the bugs. sure that SE wouldn't just abandon their flagship like that. otherwise wait for the p700?
