Was wondering if its possible to make the sound better on the w880i, as at the moment its all loud, and crackly, distorted etc.
Was wondering if any patches available, or tips to improve it?

The cant really improve the sound from the internal speaker due to the size of it. To make the phone small they have to make the components small and small speakers dont sound good.

well thats crap to be honest! thru da speaker i was on about, becasue the headphones are brill, although im going to invest in a pair of CX300's
Well they could at least change firmware for the sound, so its not as loud, or take away too much bass etc, and actually make it sound half decent!!!
or, some one shoiuld just patch the sound files

You can adjust the equaliser to improve the sound slightly and turn the volume down a bit.

i find personally that too much treble especially distorts the speaker sound. maybe turn down the speakers?
and jcwhite is right, don't think we can expect much from those teeny speakers. looks like the best option would be to invest in a good pair of plug in speakers?

Agreed, JC(my silver one does a grand job, considering)!
Bearing in mind it's only about 60/70% the size of the standard 'mid-range'(K750/W800/810/K800/K550/W610etc) speaker, it does a darn good job!
Although I'm sure someone could try to jam a 'premium' (P-series/S700/W550/W900) speaker into the 880(it's only around 20% BIGGER than the mid-range speaker, but almost DOUBLE the diameter/thickness of the 880 unit

); don't know about aesthetics, would give better bass tho'(assuming the drivers are compatible, unlike mid-range/premium ones)....
