Try here (if is that what you mean)
-
http://www.infraredport.com [In English/German]
-
http://web.tiscali.it/ikona/irda.htm [In Italian]
-
http://www.desantis.archimedianet.it/Appunti%20Elettronica/Null_modem_ir.html [In Italian]
The first 2 sites tell you how to build an IrDA adapter to connect directly to your MotherBoard.
The last site tells you how to build an IrDA adapter to connect through the serial port (RS232).
The two sites in italian are easy understandable, the only translation needed is for led colors:
verde = GREEN
rosso = RED
The other information in italian are not necessary.
I hope I've been helpful.
Bye

Sorry, I didn't understand well your question...
You asked for instruction on how to build an Infrared adapter
for the phone, while I understood that you were looking for infrared adapter
for the PC.
What a big mistake...
Sorry!
Hope you'll find what you're looking for.

Not at all.. Can't find anything... May be I should buy some IrDa device and re-build it and connect directly to serial output of the cable?

ericsson used to make a connector for their old non infra red handsets (i think they were called the dir28 & 29, but i could be wrong. they certainly made them though)

It may be a solution...
But, then, is better to use the cable!!!
You can build it! If you want I can post you the link for the electrical scheme. Which model do you have?
