Does anyone knows if the resolution of a K750 or W800 camera can be elevated to more than 2mp by flashing the firmware?

no. this is a hardware feature. atmost you can do is the interpolation of the image to increase the pixels, nothing more.

2MP means there are approximately 2 million tiny little receptors on the censor chip that record the image the camera is pointed at. So you cannot get more of these receptors without replacing the physical chip with one that has more receptors on it (ie: one of higher resolution)
The size of the K750 image censor is 1632 pixels x 1224 pixels. 1632 x 1224 = 1997568 or in other words approximately 2 million pixels in total.
Interpolation is where you choose the average colour of two adjacent pixels, and "interpolate" (or insert) a pixel of that colour between the adjacent pixels, using software. So interpolation is done by software (usually onboard), not hardware, and is only really a guess. An interpolated image has a higher resolution than the physical censor, but is not as sharp or accurate in colour as an image taken with a sensor of the same resolution as the interpolated image.

actually, modded cam drivers aren't doing interpolation. The modded cam drivers are doing things like manual focus, exposure lock, and improved colour and night modes pictures. So far I haven't seen any interpolation, which probably isn't possible through the camdriver alone. This is usually a chip based process built in by the manufacturer. K750/W800/W810 don't have an interpolation option.
The K700 could interpolate a VGA image to 1.2MP. I'm not sure what other SE cameras can do interpolatation.

I think when it SAYS - 2 MP, it's the BEST/HIGHEST rate it will get, no matter what yo do with the phone . . . even if you change it's fascias . . . you CAn ONLY downgrade the quality of the image to be taken . . . say, to 1MP or - VGA.

interpolation can increase the resolution of an image, but in so doing the
quality is reduced. You cannot increase both resolution AND quality without changing the censor itself to a higher resolution version.
K700 had only a VGA censor, but the camera had an onboard setting that allows you to take lower quality images at a higher resolution of 1.2MP.

@max - Can this CENSORs then be UPGRADED

not easily! It may be as simple as redisigning the connector of the replacement censor (which would require the pin out of the existing censor - something that would be quite hard to find) or it may be as hard as redisigning the firmware and possibly the mainboard as well!
Certainly not as simple as swapping the lense of the existing censor (see what I did with an old K750 I had lying around) with a better quality one:
http://mobile.gemtech.net.au/750/tricks/lensemod.html
(here I've swapped the lense, but kept the K750 original censor)
