My W810 reastarts it self when I plug on the USB cable and after that everything is ok, transfer is aviable, but because it's my nwe phone I don't now is thes normal? i updated firm with latest aviable in SEUS R4CA031 and it's same problem

I think it's part of the newer SE software that related to mass storage usage.

When I plug my W850i in it asks it I want to set it to phone mode or memory stick mode (or something like that) and the phone mode lets it work with the SE software, but not Windows Explorer, where as the latter does but forces a restart of the phone and shuts down the GSM radio until I've finished.

phones scare me. Anyone recall the rash of WSODs (White Screen of Death) that plagued the W550/W600? 99% occurred after using File Transfer Mode, even when the phone's "drive" was properly "ejected" from the computer's OS (e.g. Windoze). And my then-new W810 went nuts after such a properly-ejected connection, too

Motorola's are junk, but one area where they trounce

is in USB connections. They do cheat a bit: (1) you set ahead of time, in the phone's settings, what mode (Phone or File Transfer) the phone should enter when a USB connection is made, and (2) only the memory card (never the internal phone memory) is accessible this way. But, the connection is rock-solid - no phone restart, no flashing white screen, nothing scary at all. And when you "eject" the phone, it immediately goes back to normal - again, no restart or anything.

This is why I bought a USB Memory Stick reader. I use this for file transfers too big for

to be practical. It works just like a thumb drive.
