Anyone find the SAR Ratings of the latest Sony Ericsson phones worrying?
In the past the radiation levels were quite low...
The W850i is 0.48 and the K800i was 0.5x...
However, the W880i is over 1.40 and the K810i's is 1.30!
I really hope that SE takes this into consideration into their future phones... I think anything above 1.0 is quite high though the limit is 2.0.

One reason I am not too keen on getting any of their latest phones. They were always one of if not the lowest SAR phones around, but now even Motorola seem to be able to produce phones with lower SAR rattings. Must have something to do with the internal aerials they are using now, which could be to do with people in the US always complaining they could never get reception. Also allot of their phones are quad band now, so that may have a bearing on it as well.

does the SAR rating affect the 'heat' of the phone when you're on it for too long? IMO metal body phones always have a higher SAR rating, though I might be wrong. why is that so?

Perhaps this might be so... but if they can product something like the W850i which only has a 0.60 SAR rating, there's no reason how 1.31 can appear in the W610i which isn't really that slim nor metallic at all.
As for the US, if I'm not wrong, they have different set of standards, and it seems to be harder to meet the guidelines there and many phones are not sold there or there are specially catered phones for the market there... so I don't think that's the problem.
