I have a T300 that has an e-mail menu at Messages->4.E-mail .
The phone also came with an initial setup of the following mailbox:
Messages->4.E-mail->7.Options->2.Edit Acount->My E-mail
1.Connect Using->T-Zones
2.Protocol->POP3
3.Incoming serv.->myemail.T-Mobile.com
4.Incoming Port->110
5.Mailbox->
6.Password->
7.Outgoing server->myemail.T-Mobile.com
8.Outgoing port->25
0.Download->Headers+text
From name->
Signature->
Copy outgoing->Off
Check Intervall->Off
However sending e-mail from the e-mail menu is not possible, the only way I have managed to send e-mail was from the MMS (Picture) sending menu and typing in an e-mail instead of a phone number.
When I tried to send it from the real e-mail menu it kept trying to connect to the server but never connected to it. I also realized that the e-mail account that initially was there might be messed up so I added my regular e-mail account to it as an option and used that, but the same disappointing result of not being able to connect to the server.
I also tried to change that connect using from T-zone to T-mobile internet, but with that one I get a "Wrong Access Point Name" error message and it won't even connect.
However if I added my regular ISP dial up connection to the connections and used that I could sync up and everything was nice and dandy.
I know that I can send e-mail from the MMS menu and I can also set up "my T-zones" so I can view my messages through the WAP browser, but it is a lot easier to download all the headers to my phone in the place that was meant to handle e-mail messages and then download the messages that I am interested in instead of going through endless number of WAP pages just to get to my message.
Is that e-mail feature only available to T-mobile Internet subscriptions? Is that what my problem is? In that case I am sorely disappointed.......

What message do you get when you try to send email? Have you set your data accounts correctly?
I am a T-Mobile user but I have different email client and it works for me. When I set up my email I had to add a DNS address.

I have found an earlier post from you:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=14565&forum=14#post184088
I think this is what you did to get it to work, however adding the DNS did not help my problem not one bit. I think the guy who posted just above you in that thread has got the idea why it would not work, however since then times have seemed to change so now they call those services T-mobile Internet and they charge premium for it.
For me adding a new connection type per your instructions did not help, it keeps on searching for the server and then it will state that "server not found" what I could still try is type in the IP address of the server instead of the name and see if that does anything......

Ok, here is what I did today!
I have finally called T-mobile Customer Service today and they had to transfer me to Tier 2 to even be able to comprehend my issue.
Basicallye the guy I have talked to was very helpful and he knew exactly what I was talking about. He told me that the fact that I have t-zones and not t-mobile internet would not have an affect on the issue. So T-zones would work too if anything.
He also told me that he could never get it to work on a T300 or a T68i, he told me that I'd have to use regular GSM data connection to do it which I told him that I am already capable of doing I was looking for a better solution.
I also told him that someone in Hawai on a T68 was able to get it to work by using the T-mobile DNS server, and another guy (gene9) in Chicago was able to use it on his T39 by entering the IP address of the mail server. He found it odd but also told me that the GPRS setups and configurations go by region so there is a chance that Fort Worth, TX is set up differently than Hawai or Chicago.
Overall he said he'll try to mess with the server side configuration to see if he can get it to work, however he said not to expect much as he has not been able to do it ever before.
So this is where I am standing...... If ANYONE else got it to work through GPRS I'd really appreciate the input so I could see where else it works and where it doesn't.

Hello,
I have T-Mobile and I can send email thru my GSM settings. However, you must dial to your own ISP with a username/password...etc.
You use your ISP as a gateway to send email messages. I spoke with T-Mobile and they told me I can't send messages either, but I got it to work.
Here are the settings...
1. from Meun, go to Connect
2. go to Data Accounts
3. select Dataa accounts
4. edit your GSM data account
phone number - your ISP number
userid - user account
password - your password
data rate - 9.6 kbits
dial type - ISDN
DNS address - your ISP IP address
5. from Menu, go to Messages
6. select e-mail
7. select Option
8. select Edit account
9. create a new account (ie. MyEmail)
connect using - the data account above item4
protocol - POP3
inc. server - get this from you ISP (ie. postoffice.xxx.net)
incoming port - 110
mailbox - user account
password - password
outgoing server - get this from your ISP (mail.xxx.net)
outgoing port - 25
e-mail addres - your reply email account
This is what I use and it works for me.

Joe,
I appreciate your input however had you read my post more closely you could have seen that I've already been through that.
Quote:However if I added my regular ISP dial up connection to the connections and used that I could sync up and everything was nice and dandy.
My problem and the part that I am pissed off about is that I can't use my T-zones data to check my e-mail. Dialing up every time I have an e-mail ready to be sent or every time I want to download the remainder of a message is a big pain in the butt not to mention it eats up my minutes and it is slow as a dog.
So I am looking for a solution where I can use GPRS (T-zones) to get to my e-mail without dialing my ISP.

GTakacs> maybe the T-Mobile guy is right about different region settings but I would assume they have the same settings across the US. I got my settings by emailing customer service a billion times. Must have finally reached the right guy. I used to have a contact at Voicestream that helped me with all the settings and stuff even before Voicestrem was selling T68 but he left the company and didn't give me any new contact info
The settings I've posted earlier is all help I have to offer at the moment. Did the change the Quality of Server settings in the Data accounts menu under Advanced settings? Hope it gets solved!

I finally got it working!
What I really needed was T-mobile internet as I suspected it. POP3 and SMTP will not work through the T-zones settings.
The phone comes standard with 3 settings, one for T-zones, one for T-mobile internet and an internet backup. Only the internet connection allows connection to e-mail.
They charge $9.99 for T-mobile internet add-on for 2MB of data. But they have a unadvertised smartphone plan that costs only $5 and includes 1MB ot T-zone 1MB of T-mobile internet and 300 SMS. So for extra $2 I got 1MB internet data for my e-mail which is a pretty good deal if you ask me.
If anyone wants it, the SAX code for it (so the customer service rep can find it) is smtpphn2 and it's $5 a month.
With this one setting up my e-mail took about 2 minutes and it's working like a charm!
However now I managed to mess up my T300 by doing a master reset and losing all the MMS templates but they still take up space........

GTakacs,
Happy to hear you finally got this to check email using T-zone or T-mobile Internet.
Hey, would you be kind enough to post the settings for everyone here in case people like myself want to try it. I currently dial to my ISP using GSM settings to send email. I am sure it's faster using GPRS, plus for those who do not have an ISP.
Thank you in advance for your help.
