Hi!

I received an sms a short while ago, nothing strange there ! But this one

did not display the senders number,

did not have any text in message and,

had an attachment called AAA but there is no application on the phone to open it.

I deleted it, but wish I looked more at the info..

Any ideas ? I knew numbers can be withheld when calling, but didn't know this was true of texts !

can... its possible to sms without a sender number / withheld but you must use different application in computer perhaps. my friend did before.

do you know Class 0 SMS or Flash SMS?
Class 0 sms sent message which only can be seen, once you click OK its gone.

there's also hidden message which can only be seen in some phone.

so... its not strange as nowadays technology advancing very fast. maybe you might just need to figure it out what type of sms it is

What net are you on? I've had service messages from T Mobile before now that have come anonymous and contain what looks like an attachment and the text just says "Service Message - please delete!"

Yup, on T-mob you can send 'flash' smss from your phone, they show no number, no options - you can simply read and clear it! I'm sure you have to put '!!' at the start of the text, then just send it like normal.....

Anonymous texts is nothing new, i too get it, when i click reply then it asks for the number... so there is no number attached to the text...

well, this probably is related to your operator. today(monday), i heard on radio that a guy received around 80 sms saying the same thing.
