i just noticed that my k800 black shutter is cracked when i opened my lens cover and it revealed the black shutter. I tried to see it again but now it only shows the lens.. I had no idea there was a shutter underneath the plastic above the lens..

i remember accidently crushing the outer lens cover but it did not get damaged so i assumed everything was fine.

if the black shutter cover as you've mentioned in this thread is damaged, will it affect the quality of my pics?

i have no idea how the thing works or of its importance.. all i know is that i cant seem to get it to reveal now and was shocked to see the cracks in the shutter. how will that affect my photos and the lens in general?

does anyone else have this same problem?

does anyone know how to get the shutter to close manually so i can take another look at the extent of the damage as i can't seem to get it to close up now no matter what i do?

when i use the flash the shutter closes and opens quickly but i cant notice the damage as its so quick. is there anyway to get it to close? i've tried turning off the phone to no avail..

as it is cracked the shutter what is the future problems i might have? i see that it still opens and closes fine when i use the flash but i can imagine the broken part which is cracked may no longer close in future which i guess will cause the image to be obscured with that piece of shutter covering it.

Did you see a black thing cover the Camera lens. If so it isnt cracked becuase the Cover has 2 black parts. I will take a picture when I get time..

Don't worry too much. To get the black thing to show up again then drop the phone on the carpet slowly so it doesnt hit too hard

yes the black cover came out thats what im talking about.. when i saw it at first i thought my lens was cracked because there was a crack in the black thing. it was in like 4 pieces with like 4 crescent moons to make the full circle shape. one side was stacked up on another and the cracks were jaggety so i know it was cracked.

what are the implications of having a cracked shutter when taking pics?

That's normal... I had your "problem" (actually not a problem) once aswell. I quess it shoots out of its place when you drop your phone real hard or crush it.

Edit: here you go

Yes! thats exactly what mine looks like. the black cover in your pic looks like its cracked as well. is it actually cracked or out of place?

mine looked just like that but the black inner shutter seemed more damaged. as in there were actual cracks in the cover.

yours looks like its somewhat out of place but the lines seem to be smooth rather than jaggety so don't look damage.

how do you mean its not a 'problem'? is yours actually damaged when it shoots out of place~?

it happened to me once too when I dropped it and hit the concrete floor real hard. it uncovered itself as soon as I picked it up. no issues afterward, though.

oh i see. thats reassuring that pic you did. I had no idea what it was because the pieces were on top of each other! it looked like it was cracked.

thankfully it wasn't a problem.
