Sony Ericsson todayannounced its newest stereo Bluetooth(TM) Headset, the HBH-DS980. This stylish accessory delivers wireless music and calls with superior sound performance, even in noisy environments. This is achieved through advances in design, ergonomics and audio:

* Digital noise cancellation/echo reduction to reduce background noise
* Bluetooth(TM) 2.0 to deliver better quality voice calls
* A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) for high quality sound when
listening to music
* A hidden OLED display delivers a seamless design effect, much brighter
than a conventional LCD display.
"As more and more people choose to store their digital music on their
mobile phone, it becomes increasingly practical to use a Bluetooth(TM)
stereo headset that can deliver quality audio," explains Jacob Sten, head
of the Accessories Business Unit at Sony Ericsson. "This latest headset is
a compact, stylish design that you will want to be seen wearing. It is so
convenient that your phone need never leave your pocket or purse."
With talk time or music playback time of up to 6 hours, the HBH-DS980
was designed with practicality and comfort in mind. Soft silicon ear buds
are provided in three sizes to ensure an optimum fit with the size and
shape of the wearer's ear. Separate to the headset, the overall unit weighs
in at just 27 grams (.95 ounces) -- lightweight for wearing around the
neck.
Finished in a stylish charcoal color, the Stereo Bluetooth(TM) Headset
HBH-DS980 features a hidden 'magic mirror' display that becomes visible
once the headset is activated. Use it to view the title of the song playing
on your phone, the battery status of your headset or the details of the
caller trying to reach you.
You can use the HBH-DS980 with more than one device at the same time.
The new multipoint function allows you to listen to music stored on a
Bluetooth(TM) enabled laptop and handle calls from your phone at the same
time.
The Stereo Bluetooth(TM) Headset HBH-DS980 is designed with the wearer
in mind. As well as maximizing comfort and flexibility, the subtle design
makes it the ideal companion for North American phone models such as the
recently announced Sony Ericsson W580 Walkman(R) phone and the Sony
Ericsson Z750. The HBH-DS980 will be available worldwide from Q3 2007.
The Stereo Bluetooth(TM) Headset HBH-DS980 at a glance:

Hi all,

I would like to see a picture and whilst i welcome improvements to bluetooth Stereo headsets i can't understand why no 3.5m jack to allow you to use your own headphones. I also hope they have changed the pendant as that thing drove me nuts.

Currently i still believe a wired solution gives the best results and although i know it will get better anything that doesn't allow me to use my own headphones is just not a purchase i will make.

Please SE allow us to plug in our own headphones you have done it with other headsets do it for the Bluetooth headsets also.

Marc

Ha Ha. This figures, a day before i get the 970 they announce the 980. Gotta love this industry.

Kinda like Apple announced the iPhone a week after i got the W950i. But i do love the W950i so i care little about that.

Can't wait to see how it looks so i could feel even worse about my purchase.

Whats the difference between the 980 and 970?
A 3.5mm headphone socket would have been useful too.

MultiConnect is also present in DS970.
So, mainly no change.
Nice.
Pointless upgrade.

So?
Meaning exactly what?
What is an improved firmware?Any release notes or something?
I have already DS970 and won't change it for DS980 for sure.
I think it is a trick. A re-launch of the same product because there is none revolutionary available anyway.
