this is a post for T68 users in the US. Ask questions here regarding getting your T68 and getting it working on a US wireless provider (i.e. voicestream, cingular and other carriers).

to get a message delivery report over the voicestream network precede your text message with: *not#

e.g. "*not#hi how are? please call me"

you will get a delivery report via sms

Does anyone know what, if anything, needs to be done if you live in Europe and go to the US?

In my case I live in England and I'm on Vodafone. If I go somewhere else in Europe my phone automatically finds a network provider and everything just works, which is great. Will that be the case when I go to the USA?

(Last time I was there on work I didn't have a triband phone and couldn't phone anybody at the weekend so got very bored. )

(Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a quick search but it's hard to know what to search for on this topic...)

yes, your phone if you have it on automatic will find VS or Cingular network.. you need to make sure Vodafone permits you to roam outside Europe however, otherwise you will only be able to receive calls and not make them

im in the same position...my provider is in germany (d2) and im in the usa...all what you need is a triband phone like the t68 and to tell your provider to allow roaming...
my roaming partner is voice stream...im around chicago...works great...
but be aware of the roaming charges...i pay 1.8 euro for a minute when i use the roaming calling germany...when you plane on staying longer email me and i have some tipps for you how to get it cheaper
