I am having a problem with T-Mobile. Ever since my number has been ported (yesterday) I have had a problem making and receiving calls. It now transpires that if I use T-Mobiles 3G network (with five bars of reception) it wont give me access but with 2G it is fine.
I have spoken to a lady at T-Mobile who says it is a problem with weak reception, which from what I can tell is rubbish as I have full reception. She also said it is because the 3G network is for video calling and it wont connect to landline phones as they dont support video calling even though I was only trying to make voice calls.
Any ideas what could relly be the problem? From what I can tell it is actually T-Mobile not letting me use 3G. This is useless as I want to use my phone to get on the internet and GPRS is stupidly slow.

Hi JC,
Just call again as what she says is just not right at all, no idea what your problem is though but try and get through to Data support as they should be able to sort it out for you and can even check the cell sites in your area in case their is a problem there,
Good Luck.

@JC
She also said it is because the 3G network is for video calling and it wont connect to landline phones as they dont support video calling even though I was only trying to make voice calls.

Just the type of lame thing she would say.
Its sounds like the same woman I spoke to; I got the feeling she was more interested in just finishing the call rather than actually trying to sort out your problem.
Did she interrupt you when you were trying to explain what the problem is and give reasons as to why it happens but no solution?
Anyway, I was told all t-mobile sim cards were 3G activated , unlike say Orange ones, so the problem is definitely to do with the data on the ported number and not the sim. Have it escalated to data and tell them turning off 3G is not an option.
Hope you get it sorted mate. It can be right nightmare getting it through to them.

Hi GoldenFace,
My experience is different they have always been really quick and helpful even the other day when i called with a query about MultiSim they couldn't do enough to get an answer for me.
But i suppose every one can have an off day and obviously she is having one today. As i said just call and get transferred to Data support I'm sure they will sort i,. well at last i hope they do.

Marc,
I'm not in any way implying that the whole of t-mo is like that.
Just saying I had a real bad time dealing with technical support on one occasion and my call sounds very similar to what JC had gone through

Think this is just a case of bad luck and the fact that you got through to a muppet which can happen to anyone on any network! As for the calls not connecting on 3g and orobs with web access also on 3g, sounds like your ported number didn't activate properly and the days team can get the engineers to sort it without to much fuss! Good luck mate and let us know how you get on :o)
