First, the computer randomly reboots itself.

Then it takes bloody ages to reboot.

Next, it makes it sounds like it's somehow my fault.

Finally, it provides such useful information as to what happened.

Why more people don't use the Mac, I will never know. We Mac users don't have these problems.

Apple is in a better position than MS when it comes to operating systems because they have much tighter control over the hardware production as well as the O/S, Windows has to run on what is in effect "umpteen" different systems and setups so it has more bases to cover, plus its hobbled by an ancient and limited pc architecture.

Having used mac/windows/linux i know which i would choose for reliabilty and ease of use and theres a certain fruit in the logo

This excuse is getting thin. Macs have to work with "umpteen" USB and Firewire devices - mice, keyboards, printers, drives, etc., etc; they do so reliably. And it's umpteen^2 with a MacPro, where you can add/remove internal components as well, e.g. memory, video cards.

As for the "ancient and limited pc architecture," whose fault is that? Sounds like Apple's "tighter control over the hardware production as well as the O/S" is quite the advantage.

I love my PC it constantly hangs, reboots and gives cryptic clues as to why! It takes up to an hour to shut down and 10mins to boot up, and almost comes to a stop if i ask it to run any microsoft programs!

If it wasn't for my PC i would have no anger in my life!

I cant wait to replace my laptop for a mac and eventually my desktop too!!

lol, i wasnt making excuses for either party, it was just my opinion having used both systems for a while (windows the longest). For the average punter if his pc works then he is happy, if it throws its teddy out of the pram then its off to pcworld for a fix......ad nauseam.

The mac v windows argument is like the chicken and the egg....it will run and run, those in the know or with an ounce of pc know how will know were their loyalty lies, the end result should be more consumer choice and cheaper systems although the current "vista" options and prices leave a lot to be desired (be intresting to see what price point the new mac os will be released at tho).

The unknown quantity is linux and this should not be underestimated, funny that MS brought out a "special" windows xp version for the as yet untapped chinese market.........it had a special price.........all this to prevent any migration to other systems like linux, what exactly are MS afraid of???. Also read an intresting article on how MS were in "talks" with Dell over the less than 3% of pc`s they sell without an os and how they thought they should not be selling them like this???........Its this removal of choice that will, be the long term problem
