Hi,

A friend of mine is moving to Sweden for 2 months from the UK. He has a w850 on T-mobile. We figured the cheapest way to make calls to the UK would be to put in a Swedish operators SIM.

First of all, would this be the cheapest way to make calls? Are there pre-pay SIMs in Sweden?

Secondly, would the phone need to be unlocked? I checked the service menu and all the icons say unlocked, except for "Extended". My O2 SIM would not work in it. I'm unsure if it is only locked to UK networks.

The phone will need unlocking, though if your friend phones T-Mobile, they should supply him with a code for about £15-£20.
