I saw this Youtube video the other day, didn't save the link but something like hack and free internet or something, anyway it's a video made by "The Fixed", maybe search Google and it'll come up, their objective is to make videos about hacking such as PC or phone hacking and get free internet for laptops etc.......so yea i saw their video and they showed how u can get free internet on ur fone, basically u just have to change the proxy address on ur wap settings and setup a page on ur PC that redirects the proxy to a free server or something, not quite sure.......
anyway i kinda get it after watching the video, it's like making ur fone use the connection of ur broadband or something, cuz my friend has a PPA fone and he changed the settings so he can use the wireless connection of his broadband so he can go on msn for free on his fone using his internet broadband.
My problem is, i get all this stuff but don't know how to setup it properly, can someone tell me how to setup my W700i for free internet? BTW if u guys live in NZ that would be great cuz it would be easier for me to follow intructions if u guys are in the same country using the same provider and all that etc........i use Vodafone btw but i guess it doesn't matter, the settings are related to proxy address etc so someone help me out if u guys know.

What are your settings, the original ones, given by your service provider...

you are talking about this
http://thefixed.org/articles/phonehack/
it's for a LG phone. I'm pretty sure this setup won't work on W700. Even if you enter the proxy ip address in the internet data account, it's still going through gprs which is billed.
Try this instead

it uses the SE SDK (software development kit) connection proxy to allow the SE phone to connect to the computer's internet connection.

To connect to a the internet with your phone, you need a carrier. In the case of a proxy connection to your home broadband the connection carrier is your bluetooth or cable connection. This is free, though your computer's connection to the internet is not, as you say (but you are paying for it anyway).
If you connect via a free proxy when out and about, you are making a phone call to the free proxy (but using an IP address instead of a phone number). Someone has to act as the carrier, you can't magically connect to the free proxy through thin air. Notice that the article on The Fixed says you will incur time charges. This is because while your internet is through the free proxy and you are not using gprs, you are in effect making a phone call, which is timed and charged probably heavier than gprs.

But this 'free' internet can only be used at home, or within a limited range, pc turned on...
Anyways, thanks for the explanation...
