Hello people!

I have decided to decorate my bedroom this summer and was just wanting a few opinions etc etc. I haven't decided on a colour but i want something neutral. The only thing i have decided is that i am going to have this magnetic photoboard as a focal point.

Now my question is should i just have the one or maybe two or three? My bedroom is really small so maybe i am best with just one. Also i have persuaded my Grandad to let me have laminate flooring, at last. Is it easy to put down?

I am also wondering how hard it is to paint directly onto a wall rather than use lining paper. Is it just a case of filling in any gaps with filler and then sanding the walls? Just looking for colour advice mostly. Hopefully you lot can help me out.

Thanks!

PINK!

no really.. a soft pastel pink or green...

as for flooring depends on what one you get... you can get like click in ones that are dead easy if you have a square room if not it gets a little harder as you need to chop bits off etc but your not stupid so I'm sure you will figure it out..

as for paint, if i remember at the mo your walls are white/cream? you may just be able to paint over them with ya chosen colour (but I'm no builder) , filling gaps in? you reckon you can plaster?

hats off if you can...

Well not plastering as such i just mean filling in holes with polyfiller or whatever it is called and giving it a little sand. I don't want to use lining paper because you'll be able to see it when it has been painted over.

I have green wallpaper at the moment with a green & blue border which i hate so i don't really want green, maybe something like a cream or pale beige, not too sure really.

I can always get my uncle in to do the flooring for cheap, the clicking it in seems easy enough but cutting it to fit will be difficult. I know you have to leave a couple of mm gap around the edge so the wood can expand & contract in heat.

shows how much attention i paid to pics of your room then... green/white!? yeah i see the correlation!!

if you pull the wall paper off you will need to do something as you know behind it won't be pure nice white flat walls....

the flooring is supposed to be easyish to do so i'm sure you can figure it out...

@nanu*1

Thanks very much for the offer that is really kind, i think Warrington is abit further than 30 minutes, i'm sure it will be fine though, not going to do it until July time anyway.

I know the walls won't be completely flat but do you think i could get away without using lining paper, don't want those nasty lines people can see when the paint is on top.

Thanks!

dependent on what colour your going to use you might get away with it but I'll make you no promises.. a lil test patch is the key... nip out to Block and Quail and get lots of tester pots of colours you like, whack em in ya wee test patch and see what you think.. (they never ever look the same as the pot!)

ooor.. you could be really clever and do a wee pattern with the paint then you really wouldn't see the lining paper lines.. you'd never have had so much fun with JS bags in all your life! although not sure if carrier bagging walls is a little out of date as such?

Why on earth would i want orange JS bags all over my wall with try something new today written all over them! You are a strange man.

That is a grand idea about the tester pots there only a few quid each so i'll get some today and see what i like.

My Mum is a moose saying laminate is out of fashion. It is better than carpet if you spill osmething you just wipe it away.

noooo... you don't put the bags on the wall my dear.. you use them like sponges.. paint a bit of the wall and bag it.. crumple the bag up in ya hand and dab it on the wall and look what it does! it's magic...

as for laminate flooring i hate it, too cold on your feet in the middle of the night, but I'm an old man! really pi$$ em off and tile it... proper floor tiles are to die for.. . oooooooh slate.. hmmmm... (although think mr student loan won't love you no more)

maybe not tiles, but hell it's your room.. surely you can do what cha want in it as such?

this would be soo much easier if you were on msn or iChat......
