is there a way of making close ups clearer, mines is not to clear

are you talking about macro mode? you can adjust the focus to macro mode in the settings menu for the camera. hope that helps.

well it depends on your photographic skills...
close-up pics require MACRO MODE.
but even with Macro Mode,you need strong lighting conditions...
and yeah jst try cleaning the lens..

... and often a very steady hand, especially if in fairly low lighting conditions, though the flash does 'squelch' down nicely for macro photos so they're not over-exposed.
