Just been comparing the phone's sizes and found out that the P1i really isn't that much smaller than the P990i (if you take the flip of the P990i that is). The P990i is 8mm taller, 2 mm wider and 8 mm thicker with the flip on So really not that much of a difference when you think of it...
But are there some controls on the P990 that you definately need the flip to manage - hence making the flip to start with.
If yes, how are these functions handeled on the M600/P1 without a flip - and is it possible for the P990i in some way to manage this without the flip? In a way that is still smart...
Are there other things that makes the P990I totally "crazy" when you take the flip of that they have thought of on the M600i/P1i? Or is it just a charm using the P990i without the flip?
I could imagine that there would be some things in the software that are specially designed for the flip.
Hope you will help me - I know there probably will be answers if I read all the posts but there are just so many and I havn't found any considering this anyware... So please write

I took the flip off and enjoy it so much. And I really dont need it. Some people complain that P990 is not functional without flip but according to my experience it is not true. I agree that flip has its purposes, no doubt on it, but in my case I save so much precious time using the phone without flip so it is even more functional for me. I had some trouble at the begining since I had P900 and P910 (both with flip) but after a few days I realised how smart move I made, a kind of liberation from constantly opening/closing the flip. Now I surprise myself in how fast I deal with the phone (one hand). And the phone looks so much better now:)
A few tips:
- While in the main screen just press space button for a second and the phone dialing is there; second press on the screen with finger (phone with the star) and speed dialing is there
- While in the main screen press any letter and contact will open; if the contact is open in the backgroud press the first letter of the name you want.
- To answer a call just press a jog

Well certainly fast one hand smsing and one hand dialling/calling, also fast one hand calendar input, or quick one hand Note writing - it's all just PERFECT with flip closed. Not comparable with Flip open. Because of NVIGATION key which added in P990 (not existing on other Pxxx) and super easy moving through these apps.
All the rest is great in flip open and I mainly work on this mode.
But again - when quick one hand action needed with these few apps I mentioned, Flip closed is better. That's why I WANT it on the P990 successor.

Hmm I was thinking about when you sms or answer/make a phone call and using the calender and so on.
What are the differences there between the P990i and the M600i?

Last year all of our managers were given company m600, so i got a little play on them. It wasn't enough to lead me away from my p990. Though i do prefer it's (m600) dimensions compared to the p990. Though I do understand that it can be difficult for some, to type using the qwerty pad on the p990 I prefer the sperate keys as it's not a problem for me. The novelty of the flip kinda wore off on me about a week after i got it. I've been flipped off ever since
