Hey guys,

Well I've had a great day! Yeah right!

Today my k800i switched itself off when I was sending a text.

So I switched it back on and it asked for the sim pin which I entered and then it asked for the phone pin which I entered

To my shock It told me it was the incorrect pin! I only have one pin for the phone and the sim so how can it be wrong I ask myself?

After about 30mins of various pins i've gave up.

So what I want to know is will reflashing the firmware wipe this pin?

If you reflash it using Wotan, there's an option to read the lock code, it'll cost 7 euros for one credit but that's the best way to find out the lock code

Have you tried the default codes - 12345, 0000, 1111?

Tee default code is 0000, Nokia on the other hand is 12345.

So unless you or someone else who had it before you/played with it, changed it, it should be 0000.

The phone lock code is up to 8 digits, right. So that means there are millions of combinations there's no point guessing after the default codes.

You're going to need to read the code via wotan as mentioned before

I think the PUK code which you can get from your operator can let you reset the PIN, isn't that so?

PIN and lock code are two different things.

If it is the phone's lock code you forgot, you have no choice but reflash. If it's the sim's pin, you can get a puk code from your provider to reset it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you'd have to flash the phone before it gives you the pin, be a good excuse to update the firmware or debrand the phone. It works with the standard USB cable.

It won't unlock the phone, just give you the code so you can get into the phone and reset the code to the default '0000'.

One warning though - this reflash will wipe any picture, ringtones, files, texts, contacts, settings or anything else on the phone, and as far as I know you can't back it all up without the lock code as it will ask for this before connecting so you can transfer files.
