Why does SE not put this frequency on the P series? One would think that these would be the ultimate phones all the basics such as all network frequencies?

Also could one send his P990i to SE and have 850 added or replace one of the other frequencies?

probably because SE primarily targets European market othen than americas. Typically maybe because SE can do more money loss for investing in an effort to penetrate a market dominated by the highly popular blackberry.

It's really weird that SE still does not make a smart phone with quad band GSM + 3G. But he can do it! For example, the clamshell SE Z750i is a quad band GSM + 3G (also with EDGE and HSDPA)!

What about adding the 850 to the phone. I once saw an eBay auction where someone who was selling a P910i said that they had sent their phone to SE and added the 850 and thus made it a P910a instead.

Is this possible or does SE do this.
Personally I think that all PDA's should come with that frequency regardless of the market as PDA's are quite often traveled with to other countries so that one should not be left out.

it does. Cingular offers service on 850 and 1900. T-mobile on 1900.
