Sony could post its biggest quarterly loss in four years because of lagging PlayStation 3 sales and high launch costs, according to a report today on financial site Bloomberg.

^ Lol, hardly likely.
Still this is international sales and as Sony believe, once the big titles appear on the shelves sales will pick up greatly, just like with the 360 at the beginning before anything that great came out. In the UK the situation is different, the PS3 being the highest selling of the new consoles.

sony's losses for this quarter is a 4 year record, however the company executives are sure that next quarter would post 'record profits' due to forecasted increase in sales of consumer electronics such as it's LCD TVs. as mentioned, the playstation 3 is the primary reason for the losses. the advertising campaign alone cost hundreds of millions, and there has been numerous complaints on the expensive price of the console especially in Japan.
on the other hand, SE is doing very well as an investment for sony.

I've seen this report at CNN yesterday . . . Sony says that some of it's brands are performing OK, to cover-up for the not-so-saleable ones . . . mobile-phones and their digicams are performing - OK.

Theres rumour that Sony are going to release an mp3 player WITHOUT Sonicstage and Atrac3. Also have voice recording and radio.
That means pure drag and drop. If this turns out to be true than my next mp3 player will be Sony, seems like they are learning from se.
