disgrace if you ask me... he joins the army yet doesn't fight? what is the point?
it's a shambles. he might be an heir to the throne, but fighting for your country is what Kings do, is it not?
GRRRRRRRRR

actually NO british soldiers should go to iraq...
according harry and the royal family, they should go all and make themself useful, since 50 years they just stand on the balcony and wave with their hands from time to time...

I was just reading that and in principal I agree, but its clear that the insurgents etc will go all out to get him and my main thought is that being there and in that position with that much specific interest in "getting him" he would also be putting all those other soldiers directly around him at a much higher risk than they already are.
its also not his fault that he is a prince or that he would become the hottest target in Iraq, its also not his fault that he has now been prevented from going by the Chief of General Staff. He was all set to go...

seriously.. this harry circus in on since about a month. already then was it written, that - as masseur pointed - he is a risk... so what i dont get, did it took so long to recognize that he is really a risk or what? os is it just a media circus again?
what does uk ppl think? cos newspapers dont really reflect the situation itself very clear

yeah i understand it's not his decision not to go, it's the bureaucratic monkeys that are above him...
back in the day.. he would have gone to war. although saying that, I'm too old fashioned, I wish they still did national service.

I thought it good when Andy went to the Faulklands, but he was flying and therefore probably less identifiable and somewhat safer while flying specific sorties than a soldier on patrol walking the streets etc

The insurgents will be laughing.
Either way all UK troops over there are at risk even with him not there. This just shows they have given the mod the willies. If insurgents will go all out to get him then thats the perfect opportunity to pile in more British troops on top of them.
Nuke em all.

It inevitably will have a negative impact either way; both with him going and bringing a greater risk to those around him and by not going, the propaganda etc that would appear from that. Although I am all for Harry and William going to war, even if a still important yet away from the frontline position; just think if he/they were to be captured by insurgents, the problems that would cause when trying to get him back, and think if the matter like it has already before got worse and suddenly his execution by insurgents was on the table, no doubt filmed for propaganda ussage as well, like it or not this enemy will go much further than our previous foes.

Why would Harry Potter serve in Iraq, he isn't even a real person?!
