Hello, I am a noob to the whole process. I actually don't even have my w810i yet. I am receiving it in a few days, and its supposed to be unbranded/unlocked already. However, I usually like to start fresh with the latest and greatest firmware, and all the enhancements that i've heard about (camera, acoustic, flash menus, etc)

Anyway, I'd like to use the most pain-free method and I believe if I'm correct, I can do it all in one process with XS++ (even though it could take hours).

Ultimately I would like my phone to have:
W810_R4ED001_FS_AMERICA_1_RED49
and
W810_R4EA031_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_RED49_SmallNowPlaying_FastWalkman_Patch

ALSO, I wanted to install all the goodies found in Avalon's (from SE-NSE.net) mod pack which includes camera driver, acoustic driver, layout.xml, themes, etc.


1. I am not sure which custopack I should use for this ? I'm in Canada on the Rogers network and i've found on some forums an W810i_CDA102494_2_EUROPE_2 Custompack that was modified to the same settings as an AMERICA_2 customize.xml.

Would this be okay?

2. My main question is whether or not all this can be done with XS++ in one process. My thinking is that i would

first put all the files i want to upload in the files_to_upload directory (making sure the directory structure is correct i.e ifs/settings/acoustic/)

next put my custompack directory in the own_custpack folder

Then

a) install usb drivers for the cable
b) open XS++
c) choose Flash Main Firmware (choose the MAIN above)
d) choose Flash File System (choose the FS abov)
e) Customize File System (select w810i and own_custpack )
f) then do you select Flash or FSX?


Does this sound right? I know it would take alot longer than using XS++ / FAR / SEFP, but i think for my first time it will make it easier for me.

use XS++ to flash the Firmware MAIN and FS, but to upload the rest of the stuff, like the acoustic, camera driver, custom pack, would take a while if you are going to use XS++ (because that requires bruteforcing), so my suggestion would be to use FAR+SEFP http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=7330 for the uploading bit, oh yeah, and for the custom pack, if you want to use the custom pcak for the FS you have, you can actually modify the custompack to use it, just make sure the CDA versions match and you should be ok, so open customize.xml with notepad or sumthing, and then change the CDA= bit to watever FS version you are going to flash your fone with

thanks for the quick reply! so for the customize.xml. right now it says the cda number is CDA102555/15 which i entered myself before ( i believe that is the correct one for my region AMERICA_1)

Is that one correct?

Also when i initially flash the FS + Main with XS++ do I use the custompack i downloaded and modified? or do i use one of the pre-set customizations in XS++ and then just upload the new custompack when using FAR + SEFP?

i think i realized what i need to do after looking over the non-bruteforce method from se-nse.net. I'm thinking that all i need to do is perform that "Extra Unbranding your phone" step during the whole procedure. That way i'll end up with the FS and Main I want since I have to flash a real Main at the end anyway right?

My only concern is, would it matter what FS and Main i have on the phone at the VERY beginning of the process? I guess not if i am just flashing fake main to access my file system..

Hi, sorry was at work, yeah just flash MAIN FS without customization, then flash fake main, then go into FAR, upload customize.xml which u modded, and then close FAR, then flash MAIN only, and you should be done, If you get "customization error" on your fone that means that there is something wrong with ur modified customize.xml (oh, and dont freak out at the please wait part wen u turn on your fone, its just means its uploading new custom pack)
