Now that all the phones are coming with camera, would you prefer to buy a phone with a 5 mp camera or will you still prefer to go for a professional camera? And which one...
By the way, I have a Kodak Digital camera, and I prefer it to the phone camera.
Cheers!!

the quality of a standlone camera is obvious, but there will be people who prefer the convenience of having a camera on them all the time (eg camphone). I personally like a camphone better, as long as the quality is nice enough (K800i has been great for me). Once Sofia is released, ill definitely prefer a camphone!

I definitely prefer a real camera than a phone camera.
I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 and I like it very much.
My phone is a SE W850i and I just abhor its crappy camera.

Well obviously I prefer using a real camera, but I can't always have my real camera with me, so in those situations, the cameraphone is the only choice. Camera phones are for those spontaneous moments. For actual photos that you want to look back on with quality, like holiday snaps, there'd be no way I'd be doing all the shooting on a cameraphone.

I'm an oldfashioned. I still use my good old film (negative) camera for real photography

I think as shaliron. When I go on a vacation I get my little brother's camera.I don't need to have one because when I need it I just get it from him
He has some nice Canon cam which is good enough, but too large.
In fact I'm not that keen on photos,so I don't choose my phone by camera, usually by the player and memory. My W950i doesn't have any camera, you know. But there is at least one friend around with decent camera phone,so no problems...
btw,I like oldschool cameras too(mainly Leica)

Now i have my N95 and i'm used to the settings on it, i am able to take pictures of similar quality to a dedicated 5mp cam.
the fact is on a day to day basis i wouldnt want to carry a cam around anyway, but when on Holiday, my N95 will be my holiday cam and phone (among other things)
so i dont really see the need to have a low to medium range cam at all for me. Still, mobiles would never replace a digital SLR....

Interesting question - I probably take more pictures with my cameraphone, but when going on holiday or short break will take my Olympus compact digital camera. Though I'm tempted to just take my K800i on holiday with me, save taking one gadget! Though I'd miss the optical zoom on the digicam...
Think it depends also on what your digital camera is as well. On some day trips I'll just take the phone, on others I'd take the digicam too. If you have a digital SLR, there'd be no contest, but of course they are rather bulky. However, the gap in quality between dedicated compact digital cameras and cameraphones (espcially the K800i) is closing.
