> K800i on Three UK: Globe connection icon always on and poor battery life
Bookmark topic
I bought a new sim-free unbranded K800i the other day and have been using it on Three UK with the "3locked" data account settings that came pre-loaded.
As with my previous Three-branded K800, the blue globe icon at the top left of the screen is always on (I assume this means that a data connection is always open).
However, with this new handset, battery life is appalling, far shorter than my last branded phone. It's lasted about a day and a half with about half an hours worth of calls and zero use of the camera etc.
So, is there anyone else using an unbranded handset on Three and is theirs constantly showing the blue globe icon? Is there any way to change the data settings to disconnect when not being used?

My branded K800 also had the globe icon on the whole time but the battery life was much longer than the new, unbranded one.
Is there anyone using an unbranded K800 on Three?

mine also did that, very2 poor battery life, compared to W550.
so i turn off 3G network when not in use and also set brightness to 50%. no choice, i have to do that and hence extend the battery life 2.5x longer than usual.

Settings -> Connectivity -> Mobile Networks -> GSM/3G networks
choose "GSM only", this will off the 3G connection
