I'm getting a K800 upgrade through the post tomorrow.

I want to debrand it and unlock it. I shall debrand using Davinci and unlock somewhere. However I definitely do not want it to become Firmware Brown.

When I have had K750s unlocked in the past, at various stalls on Leeds Market, I have been left with Brown firmware, which means that attempts to update the firmware with tools such as the Sony Ericsson Update Service or DavinciTeam fail.

I would like to get it done cheap on the market again. I note that there is now a brute force unlocking service at DavinciTeam but it costs €50! (~£25) whereas stalls on Leeds Market charge £5 or £10

How can I make sure I choose a stall that won't leave it as Firmware Brown? Or is this a problem that doesn't affect K800s?

Thanks

OK, so reading around, it would appear that it is no easy thing unlocking a K800.

It would appear my best bet is to try for a code from this guy:

And if not it is perhaps best to send my phone off?

Is that the best way to get it reliably unlocked without knacking it?

Thanks!

brown is a developer firmware
red is a retail firmware.

red updates get released more than brown updates

It stops the Sony Ericsson Update Service / over the air update service working, also stops you using DaVinciTeam / Wotan etc. as there are hardly any "brown" on there.

I had my phone unlocked by sending my IMEI to this guy in the end.

Lightning fast service, code worked first time, no problems whatsoever (a happy customer)
