> w810i setting up music folders

Just been given a free upgrade under insurance as they didnt have the w800 in stock.
Have just transfered all my contacts etc over and ringtones. Now i want to put music onto it. It doesnt seem as straight forward as the w800 where i could just drag and drop into the memory stick in my computer. It appears to be the phone memory that appears in my computer???
Anyway thats the least of my worries i can use the file manager for that.
When i first got my w800 and used the walkman feature it used to put all the tracks together or by artists etc. I want each genre in diff folders on the phone and then play it this way in the walkman.
Now with my w800i i created a folder on the memory stick within the MP3 folder and called it "My Music" and within "my music" within that folder created subfolders for different styles of music that i wanted on my phone. This would then appear on the walkman function with a separate folder called "my music" with my selection in there. This saved me browsing through every single audio file on the phone to get to the one i wanted to play.
Now i have redone this on the w810i and guess what it doesnt show me my folder in the walkman, and i have to browse every audio file on the phone before i get to what i want.
Is there a different way i should be creating the folder? Or has it changed now so you cant create folders and separate your music. I know you can create playlists but i dont really want to do this as this takes ages to do i just want to be able to drag and drop a folder onto my phone from pc and then play this by finding the folder on the phone like i did on my w800
You can find the folder ok in file manager on the phone but not in walkman.
Please help...

Yeh i have put it into that folder the same way and created a subfolder in that and then another subfolder i.e
f:music/artist/albumtitle/
but in the walkman it still doesnt bring up the name of the folder that i have created just an unknown folder but then i go into that and it lists every audio file on there.
HELP its doin my head in now.!

Odd. I have no idea. I thought for sure it would work that way. I know it's a crap program, but have you tried Disc2Phone just to see what it does? Not to use it permanently, but just as a test to see where it puts the files?

Yes tried that to see what files it put where and it puts everything into separate folders if i put some random songs in, rather than putting em in one folder. Its pap!
So i tried copying all the files into the 1 folder that one of the songs was in, then the file goes.

So in the walkman interface, under "artists", it lists a folder called unknown? (when you create songs in \\artist\\album\\songname.mp4?)
If it works like W800, if a song is not placed two folders deep within mp3 ie f:\\mp3\\folder1\\folder2\\songhere.mp3, the walkman interface won't be able to locate the song unless you go into "tracks" and search through all songs.
But you did say you have it like that. Maybe somethings wrong with the firmware. Or maybe you should try formatting mem stick (long shot, but I'd be trying everything at this stage, possibly even a master reset, just to eliminate the possibility the firmware is corrupt)

I have done it like that except it creates an folder called music as well as mp3. What it does is the folder for instance that i create it doesnt display this folder in the walkman section, but if i go to file manager in the phone it is as i created it, and will put it in unknown artists folder on the walkman bit.
its a brand new phone, have tried formatting memory stick, master reset already been done.

have you tried it without disc2phone? and have you tried both f:\\mp3\\folder1\\folder2 as well as f:\\music\\folder1\\folder2 just using the memory card reader?
(Sorry about all the questions. I'm sure you have, I'm just making sure all bases are covered before we move onto other possibilities.)
Do you have itunes? I'm working on a method that may work with itunes/disc2phone.

No dont have i tunes
Have tried both folders, used the mp3 one first thought it would be simple.
I dont understand it. I am just dragging and dropping into said folders. When i put an album on it is fine.
Put im wanting to put random selection of tunes on but in different genres in diff folders like i used to do on the w800.
i tried the disc2phone software just to check it wasnt putting them into a different folder. What it does is it puts each individual track into a different folder. i.e unkwnown artist/unknown album or whatever way it does it. So i tried to overcome this and cut and pasted into the first folder for the first song but the walkman still doesnt put them in this folder. Althought file manager on the phone you can view it as you can on the pc.
Surely theres something simple to this.

to place an mp3 on the memory card of the w810i, this is the directory to put it:
e:/mssemc/media files/audio/mp3/
