This is my post in quite some while. The reason for my post is that since august last year (when i ditched my w800 for an n93, bad move) i haven't enjoyed listening to music on the go. N93 sucks at audio, even with HPM-70 earphones, so i bought a 4gb ipod nano 3rd generation (bad move again) which also sucks big time at sound quality. Therefor i decided that i'm going to buy a w800 again, this summer. Now before i do that i want to ask you what other possibilities i have.

Well, AFAIK, all SonyEricsson phones since the P800 carry the same DSP chip for music decoding and pretty much the same headphone amp chipset as well. The only difference being the software playback system.
At tis point, I'd go for the W880.
Another thing, you might wanna ditch the included earphones all together. Regardless of which SE "upgrade" headset you get, they're not really top notch.
If you're that picky with how the music sounds, I'd recommend a minimum of the Shure E2s or the Bose TriPort IEs. Those are in the US$80-US$100 range. Etymotics also have one in that price range, but I forget the model.
For $100, most (and I say most, not all) people have returned the Shure E2s that they buy from me, and swap it for the Bose TriPort IEs. So far, they seem to prefer the Bose over the E2s. I personally use the Shure E3s, the Bose IEs have better bass response though.
If you like supra over-the-head headsets, I'd recommend the AKG K81
