i wanna upgrade my computers processor but i am a bit confuse to which processor i should upgrade to. My recent processor was AMD. I like speed, which should i upgrade to

i have a desktop computer and it is very slow. +1600 Athlon with 256mb and a 40 gig part. hard drive. i want something that can handle Microsoft flight sim. GTA etc adobe photo shop and audtion etc

get a core 2 duo. cheap, cheerful. intel have brought out some good stuff lately but ive always seen amd as being better, im not sure why.

If you're going that way, get a 64 bit AMD processor or better.

If you are going to just upgrade the processor than you need to know what motherboard you have and if it can take a faster processor. I think that as far as the Athlon goes 1600 is about as fast as they go anyway. This means that you will need a new motherboard, processor, fan and memory.

you're a bit behind times, Core2Duo is a leader in performance currently.

TBH, it would be more cost efficient to replace the entire system, you could get something that will give you another 4 or 5 years or so now for under £600.
