Hi just wanna have some opinions with regards to the implementation of AF function to some camera phones eversince it was used. how many people as of now uses this function? otherwise how many people do know that they're holding already an AF powered camera phone. because i was sometime wondering if normal people half-presses the camera shutter to take pictures or just press the button and voila, instant image.

We need auto focus very much...

Agreed a cell phone is a cell phone first,but inbetween calls if u happen to use the camera for some fun or u need to click pictures of ur friends,family etc etc it helps give good snaps on par with professional cameras ans SLRs..

Nowadays we dont need to go to a photo lab to get them developed,store them on ur PC and u have loads of pics.....

also AF gives the pic certain clarity

If you're going to take photo's with any device one of the core specs is autofocus ;-)

while a cam phone is still a phone, i want my cam phone to have a) autofocus and b) photo light. that's why i'm still with the K750i because other SE models does not have both... until T650i... could be my next phone.

I seen some photos from the W700. I noticed it takes good photos even without AF. How does it achieve that?

Also, (as far as I have always believed), using AF means we can't click fast-action pictures. Is that right?? If so, w700 wud be a good choice.

Just my thoughts. PLs enlighten.

Autofocus is needed to take SHARP shots. Actually camera phones without autofocus take good shots at daylight and when taking picture of some far distanced object. But if you try taking a picture of close object (closer than half meter) you will see the picture is out of focus.

af is a must now a days imo. even there are some cams, for example the nokia 2mp ones, which are far better then se 2 mp ones imo, make very good pix. af isnt a big deal for the brands, doesnt costs that much to put it ina fone, sadly, se forgot sometimes to use it, like w850 and thats stupid.

@Strizlow, u must be right - i've never taken a sharp close-up/macro using a non-AF cam...

... how about speed - do we lose valuable time due to the cam taking time to setting up the AF ??

(this is by the way one of the last, thin doubts b4 i upgrade to w810 this june )

@Abik500i - Phones without AF take the pictures much faster than the AF ones. That's because the AF needs some time (approx. 1 sec) to focus the lense to take sharp picture. So when comparing the speed, you will take 2 shots with non AF phone in the same time you need to take ONE shot with an AF phone. But the picture quality...
