Hi guys,
I have a question about Orange. I saw a good deal with a 18 months contract for £45/month and a free Playstation3. To be honest I just want to have a PS3, I don't realy care about the network. Because, I dont't wanna use the sim and I don't realy fancy to pay £45 a month for nothing, I was wondering if it's still possible to get in the chepest tarif after a couple of months or they might tie my hands, because of the £425 worth of free PS3? Any ideas?

Ok, firstly be very werey of the 'free PS3' deals some places are doing, usually its "after x number of cleared bills" or "subject to availability" or "via redemtion" which is sending off a voucher and they post it to you.
IMHO, unless they give it to you right there, right then, in the flesh, then walk away, it'll be more hassle than it's worth.
Secondly, if it's a GENUINE Orange contract (i.e. not through a 3rd party provider like Carphone Whorehouse, Phones 4Poo, Dial-a-phone etc --- by that I mean the contract is says something like "Orange" and "Carphone Warehouse" on it, or isn't JUST Orange on it's own, same goes for the bills) then you will have to wait a certain ammount of time before you can lower it. Last I checked it was between 9 and 11 months, I can't honestly say what it is now as I haven't dealt with Orange contracts since about October time.
If it's not a genuine Orange contract, again, walk away, more hassle than it's worth.
And let me get this straight, you don't care about the network, or the tariff by the sounds of it, so wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy the PS3 on a 0% credit card and pay it off over the next 12 months at LESS than £45 a month? I mean if your not serious about using £45's worth of mins and texts a month, why bother?

Well, this is a bill I'm after:
http://www.thelink.com/martprd/editorial/free_sony_ps3_deals
The thing is, I don't realy want a PS3, but would be nice to have it for free like this. I know I said I don't bother to pay that £45 a month, but for that price I'll get 900 any time, any network minutes and I would be crazy if I won't use it till the 900 minutes gone every month. So, I think in this case it's not that bad. The other thing is, I don't think I could get any "get it now and pay it later deal", cause for some strange reason they never let me... Oh, and the other thing is, they will send the PS3 with the phone, so I don't have to run around with vouchers and stuff. I don't know...

You still think it's not a good idea?

Genral how it works with orange now.
18 month contract.
You can only downgrade to the next lowerest tarrif after 9 months.
so if you are on a £45 tarrif you can change it to £40 in month 10.
You will then have to ring back every month until you get it to the lowest one you want.
Regarding 12 month
Its 6 months and again only to the next lowest tarrif.
Hope this helps

You also have to pay for the phone. The cheapest on that deal is £37.99. You also dont get any games so that would cost extra too.

Aaah, The Link, now theres one you can trust with the billing and freebies (not biased or anything, not like I spent 4 and 1/2 years of my life there lol

).
Thing is, if your not that fussed about the PS3 but 'it'd be nice' then I wouldn't bother. I mean, unless you were planning to buy one theres still not alot of point.
Their pretty good with free gifts and actually giving them to you, when we were still open on the highstreet we would have 17" samsung TFT TV/Monitors, ipod nanos, ipod shuffles and PSPs sitting out the back all waiting to be taken with contracts lol.
Have a look at their £35 a month deals, they should still be giving away freebies of a slightly lesser value with those tariffs, something more useful than a PS3 for certain, and then even if you still want one, sell the freebie and use it as money towards a PS3, and you'll still save a tenner a month on the contract.
But, if your expecting to use 900 minutes anyway, regardless of free gift or monthly cost, then go for it, but only if you'd use it anyway.

Thats bad news...
Yeah, I wanted the £37.99 or something deal, but I was planing to sell the phone for around £150. But, if I can't downgrade it for 9 months and even after just one bellow, I have to forget it...

It was such a good idea!

Lol, they always seem like good ideas, but trust me, there is always ALWAYS a catch.
Like the old saying goes, nothing in life is free.
