Hello all,

I believe that the fine people here could help me better than the lousy SE service here in Mexico that want me to hand off my dear K790i for 3 days just to see what's going on.

The symptoms:

- The keys on the right side of the phone that zoom in/out the camera and lower/rise the volume no longer control the volume.
- Oddly the afore mentioned buttons work just fine in the camera and while viewing pictures I can zoom in/out just fine.
- The problem is I can't any longer control any type of volume with them, not the ringer, nor the call sound, the radio or mp3 player.

To me it looks software related, the keys couldn't be physically damaged, given they work in the camera an images; SE service insist they need the phone serviced and wont provide any advice or test procedure on the toll free number.

I've searched the forum and couldn't find anything similar.

Has anyone seen something similar?
Does anyone know a fix?
Would a master reset delete my contacts/games?
Is my phone defective?
Should I have it serviced or just try SE Update Service myself?

Thanks in advance and congratulations on having such a fine user community going on here.

Alex

Tried SEUS?, it generally can sort out things like this.

I'll try SEUS again.

I tried it the moment I got the phone but it said that no update was necessary.

FMA reports I have R1EG001 060915 2049 CXC1250477_GENERIC_EV

Is it possible that SEUS locks firmware updates by geolocating my IP or something?

If it displays "Continue anyway" select that, it'll reinstall your current f/w and the problem may be sorted.

I'll give it a try this afternoon and report back.

Is there a way to specify which firmware to get in SEUS?
If so which would be the "best/recommended" firmware for my phone?

So basically I can rule out a hardware problem?

Thanks all for the prompt and knowledgeable answers. I hope SE official support would get to that level some day

SEUS is automatic, it detects what you've got and will give you the most up-to-date f/w availiable. No f/w options.

It's weird that SEUS didn't give you R1JG001 or R1KG001 (depending on CDA). Can you tell us your complete software info version?

For what is worth, a turn off, take out battery, put on battery, turn on got this resolved.

@aremaboy
How do I get the full information?
