Yeah, neither do I. Still, it's an oldy but a goody
Reminds me of a similar story:
A passenger aircraft had just touched down in Frankfurt Airport, Germany. Now, Frankfurt airport is pretty big and is notorious for having a very complicated taxiway system which even the most experienced pilots sometimes have trouble navigating. On top of this, German air and ground traffic controllers are well known for being a bit stroppy and short of patience...
Anyway, Frankfurt Ground contacts the English pilot of this aircraft and reels off a long and complicated string of taxiing instructions to take the aircraft to the gate. The pilot, not hearing the instructions fully, radios back...
Pilot: 'Did not copy last instruction please repeat BA177'
GC: 'BA177 exit runway via taxiway 2L proceed to holding area via taxiways 3L, 4C, blah blah blah
Pilot: 'Frankfurt Ground still do not copy BA177'
GC: 'BA177 It is quite simple, what's the matter? Have you never flown to Germany before?'
The Pilot, cool as a cucumber says: 'Yes. Once, in 1944, but it was at night and we didn't stay very long!'
