Some of you have probably seen me whining about the W610i and the hissing while playing sound files on it. This is basically the same hissing as you can find on the W810i which you can hear in silent parts of the songs and when you start and pause the Walkman.
But when I bought this phone I thought this was a bug and not a "feature", so I took it back to the store so they could have a look at it. They sent it to service to try to fix the hissing, but to no avail. When I got the phone back I discovered that they hadn't fixed the hissing, although they had changed the external speaker and upgraded the SW. So I returned to the store again, and the clerk tried to hear the hissing, but it was impossible because of all the background noise(this was at a shopping mall). And he didn't want to give me a new phone either, and I didn't feel like sending it to service for another two weeks so I took it home and decided to send a mail to the boss at the store.
So I sent the mail, and at the same time I decided to post my story so at a Norwegian forum to see what they thought. It then turns out that the guy who had tried to fix my phone were hanging around at that forum too, and he had seen my post. So he told me that it was he who had tried to fix the phone, but he said that the phone wasn't any different from other W610i's and they all hissed. And I got this confirmed from another guy at the same forum who said he had tried 5 new phones with different IMEI's and they all hissed. So it seems the hissing is a "feature" of the W610i and can't be fixed in any way yet...

Crap, and my next phone was going to be a w610. So is there anyway to fix that hissing, like some accoustic drivers as in w810?

this can be done but not at the moment. the
610 is CID52, if im not mistaken, and these phones are not supported by any free software(phone xs, far manager, etc) but wotanserver

Hm, at the other forum I hang around at theres people claming they have W610i's that doesn't hiss tough... Either they're not noticing it, or theres a large fault rate on the phones.
