wow. Does this mean you can use the light for videos on k790/k800?

Nah you can't turn on the red light and use your camera. Once you open the lens or once you push any button, the java program that turns on the red light will stop.
Personally I don't like the "torch" program. If you listen carefully, you can hear the camera making subtle clicks (like the sound when you use autofocus), and that kinda brings the paranoia out in me
Cheers for the download link though

I'll keep it on my phone, and use it as a last resort

Can this really damage the phone?
At times I miss the Light function of the K750 on my new K790

description about how it works.
when you autofocus a picture in dark places, it will turn on orange light.
so this program also use same concept. the difference is it will keep on autofocusing the camera so that the orange light will be on while you execute the app.
if you notice, when you open the camera cover and face your lens to bright places, the light will not lit although you have execute the app. it will be the same when you take a picture in that position, flash will not fire.
so its just kinda like autofocusing to make the light turned on.
i also would like to know whether this is harmful to k800....
