Hi guys

I have a question. Is there any way to improve the quality of a MP3? Cause I have some songs in 128 kbps and I want to improve them to 192 kbps. Any way to do that?

Thanks in advance

there is a way... the software is called Virtual Dub...

try to google it. if you have nero... theres NERO WAV Editor.
and any other free editors out there.. just search for them. it will appear eventually.

ciao!

you will not improve the quality of your existing 128kbps MP3's by coverting them to 192kbps

you will need to reconvert the original source to 192kbps in order to get better quality

@massure

hey i gotta question!

original AUDIO CD's have the best quality right?
so what format do you rip it to your PC?
does it make any diff if you convert to 192 or 320?

I'm no audiophile, but I know there are different types of original audio cd such as the cd-da, super audio cd and even some with 5.1 surround sound, but which is the best is not for me to answer

imho, whether you can hear the difference between 192kbps and 320 kbps is really down to your ears and the equipment you are using to playback on.

personally, I rip all my cd's twice. once at 320 kbps to store and playback on my pc, and then a second time (from the original source) to 128kbps for portable devices

All mine are done at 320.You wont rip a super audio cd cause i doubt there`s a pc out there that can play them.

@masseur's right, you'll need to rip from the source, recoding the same file to a higher bitrate increases the file size but not the quality. I used to do what masseur does, ripping at two different bitrates for different purposes, but that took up too much space, so now I usually rip at 256kbps. Go for a lower bitrate to save storage space if you can't hear the difference.

now the quality of audio disks looks like that:
DVD-A(DVD-Audio)>SACD(Super Audio CD)>CD
DVD-A disks with certain artists are sometimes hard to obtain or not manufactured at all,so the optimal performance/availability/price is delivered by the SACD discs. They are not that expensive also.CD is kinda old already so its only reasonable to use it in systems that don't support SACD/DVD-A.Its up to you to decide what you'll use.I use DV-79AVi with some internal modding and using its digital out so I can decode and amplify music externally. Its the better option, but many of the customers will be pleased with the sound without these tunes IMO.I'm planning to upgrade to some Marantz or Classe specialized players in a year or two,but will keep the good old Pioneer as it plays every disc I've had so far.

About the PC music encoding - I'm not sure but there should be any option to connect the player's digital out with a USB port, lets say.But you don't really need to have very HI-Q music on your pc unless you have a Lynx Two sound card or at least something 150$+(Creative don't count, they are "gamerish" cards with special effects and etc,but nowhere near the competition in terms of quality).Better if your sound card is external,so the intensive EM PC environment is bypassed. That will improve the sound very much.
I prefer to encode my PC music in FLAC or APE format(from normal CD),but rarely do so because I usually get the music already encoded by friends.FLAC and APE files are 16-25 MB usually but have exactly the same quality as the normal CD which is acceptable because there is noise from the PC fans and etc.
Btw,I think I saw a SACD ROM somewhere over the net,but I don't know where. It is very uncommon device though.
