Hi!

I am trying to synchronize my P990 with Outlook 2003 (contacts, calendar and task) but it doesn’t work. Error message:

Errors: 1 General
Error due to: Synchronization is disabled by device

Already tried with two computers – same message. One PC has MS Exchange mailbox (though I selected non-server folders in Outlook) while another has not. Both PC run Windows XP SP2.

I have latest SE PC Suite and in the PC and latest firmware in the P990 and Exchange ActiveSync synchronizes without problem.

Could you please help me what is wrong with my PC and or handset settings. Thanks.

P.S. I am sorry for restarting this thread though there are several similar threads in Esato - most of them mixed soup.

Have you checked what mode your USB connection is set to? It should be set to "phone mode" for syncing

I think I read here that if you set up the Active sync, the phone will NOT synchronize locally anymore. Search this forum as you will find your answer.

Yes, I had the same problem, solved when I disconnected Active Sync

@Nitro Fan, yes phone was connected in "phone mode".
@kalu, yes, probably ActiveSync is the problem.
@gommace, is there any way to disconnnect ActiveSync temporarily without uninstalling it?

I have successfully synchronized emails, calendar and contacts via Exchange server with ActiveSync but task synchronization it doesn't work. This is the case with remote synchronization.

For the local synchronization, I am still in the dark........
