I'm looking for earbuds that can amplify the volume on the P990. I don't want bluetooth headsets. A regular walkman or other earbuds, maybe with a remote, that can make the thing sound as loud as a regular mp3 player.
Does such a thing exist?

I got an HPM-70 for my P990, and it works great
HPM-70 also has a 3.5mm stereo jack, so you can hook up (almost) any speakers, but it has no remote control (just the same button as the bundled HPM-60(?), which you can pause or unpause playing music with, at least).

@firetech:
I'm reading about them but there seems to be no amplification of the sound. Are they considerably louder than the bundled headsets?
Thanks!

Yes, go and get the Sennheiser CX-300.
Plug them once into the 3.5mm adapter of your hpm-70, listen for a while and revert with your comments...
This is one of the best headphones you can get for your P990.
This is what you get:
* Superb bass (much more than on the hpm-70)
* Awesome detail (whc you've missed on hpm-70 or any other SE hp)
* Excellent isolation from outside noise
Strongly recommended.
And no, I do not work for Sennheiser

I tried them today. while the detail and isolation are excellent the volume is still too low. I guess it's the p990 limitation. i'm used to mp3 player volume so this really is an inconvenience.

hmm, ive never had any problems with my m600. it usually keeps reasonably up there with my zen vision:m (which has been known to peak at 112Db, quite scary really). I tend to switch between the MX90VCs and my Koss "The Plug" earphones, both of which provide excellent quality and horrendously loud volumes.

The quality of the Creative Zen mp3 players is unmatched. I'm used to the Zen Xtra, which has served me for close to three years so far without disappointment.
But the P990 does not come at 60% of the zen's maximum loudness, which is barely enough for someone like me
I'll keep trying though.
