Hi,

I have a w850i on Vodafone, and I have setup my pop 3 email account on the phone, but when I do a "send and receive" it says "Server Not Found"

I am absolutly 100% sure that my server address is right as I can use the exact same settings on my old w550i and also on my work phone k800i

As my old w550i and the k800i are both on Orange I am thinking it is a network problem specific to Vodaphone (I could even get my email fine on o2 with my older t630 from the very same pop3 acount)

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance for your help

in most cases you get this when you are connecting with a wap/gprs profile rather than an full internet/gprs profile

check which data account you have setup as the default

The data profile on the phone is VF Live GPRS

sorry, its been a while now since I used Vodafone so I don't know what settings are related to that name

check the APN for the data account. if its "internet" then its the correct one and there is some other issue, if its "wap"-something-or-other (which I suspect it is) then you'll need to find the one that has the APN set to "internet" and use that

Well, both of you can use the Help on the page. The thing is, you didn't read it, right? It's easier to ask around. For example, Yahoo.com doesn't support free POP3 e-mail retrieval, only if you pay. That and other you can find in that Help I was tellin' you about.

What 'help on the page' are you talking about? I have the same problem with receiving ntlworld / Virgin media POP3 email with Vodafone, which used to work just fine with O2... settings should be just fine, it just won't find the server.

I had that grief with my O2 K800i - tracked it down to needing the
DNS address to be set !

Try www.filesaveas.com - saved me a few times

You mean typing in the POP3 server address?

If not, where would you enter the DNS?

go to settings, data communication, data accounts, select your connection
name and edit. The DNS address should be near the bottom of the first
screen and requires an IP address.

Voda DNS address is 212.183.137.12 (www.filesaveas.com)
